From that day forward he trained relentlessly, getting stronger, and gaining any intel he could about what happened that night.

Shortly after his promotion to Special Jounin rank he overheard Sasuke talking about getting revenge on Itachi for the clans murder. After finding out it was Itachi and Sasuke's plans for revenge, Hiro kept a close eye on Sasuke in hopes that he would lead him to Itachi.

When Sasuke left the village Hiro was there, watching. Clan and kekkei genkai Information

The Hyuuga clan were one of the founding noble families of Leaf village. The clan itself is said to be the ancestors of the Uchiha clan who possess the bloodline of the Sharingan eye. Each clan member possess the "Byakugan" or "White Eye." When the "Byakugan" is activated, the clan member gains an extra-sensory perception, which gives them penetrating sight and telescopic vision. This allows them to see the internal chakra circulation system in other beings. This vision also grants the member a near 360° view of their surroundings. The higher the skill of the clan member, the further the distance from which they can sense incoming attacks. Unfortunately the vision does have a weakness, a small blindspot that extends outwards from their upper back.

The clan uses this ability in conjunction with their own chakra creating the Juuken (gentle fist) fighting style. By focusing the chakra to their finger tips, they can press the tenketsu or chakra pressure points of their opponents body. When the finger nears the tenketsu the chakra is forced out, collasping the targetted tenketsu for a period of time. The tenketsu serve as the connectors and exit points for the chakra pathways. So when they are stopped by the Hyuuga clan member, the ninja greatly loses his or her ability to utilize their chakra for jutsu.

These great powers lead to internal strife within the family. Because the eye grants such a unique and powerful ability, the clan became possessive and over-protective of it. Seeing only the main family as worthy users and inheritors of the eye, the heads of the clan began to place restrictions on those branch family members not in power. What resulted were two Hyuuga lines, the powerful main family who would represent the line, and the branch family who were directed to protect the main family and bear the cursed seal.

The cursed seal is placed on the foreheads of branch family members. It serves as a means to protect the secrets of the Hyuuga Byakugan eye. If the branch family member was to ever betray the main family or be killed in battle, the seal would be activated to destroy the body's secrets. Thus forcing the branch family to further bow to the will of the main family

The Advanced Byakugan

Explanation : The Byakugan originally only had one form, but after a series of training, the 2nd form was unlock by the hyuga clan . The 2nd form has characteristics that are not unlike the Sharingan, except that a black bead appears in the middle of the pupils with the 2nd stage Byakugan. The one who can master this form has mastery of the universe. The 2nd Stage grants the user to see Past, Present and Future. Also, the blindspot from the 1st Stage is gone. In addition, once learned, the 2nd Stage is the one you automatically have whenever you activate it, because when you master it, the 1st stage stays on indefinitely, not taking up any chakra whatsoever. Also, when activated, 2nd Stage gives the user increased speed, more power, and more chakra. The speed increase is phenomenal. If wanted, you could move from here to Pluto and back in 5 seconds. That’s right. Faster than the speed of light. The power increase is also incredible. A simple touch of your finger would destroy the very molecules of anything you touched. The extra chakra is needed to be able to use 2nd Stage. But, as all good abilities do, it has some side effects. The user cannot speak in that form, because the chakra obstructs the voicebox. Also the user is heavily burdened each time an ability is used in that form. And I mean heavily burdened. Chouzetsugan :: The Transcending Eye



Chouzetsugan is a powerful doujutsu technique with multiple applications. Firstly, it gives the Onoda user something akin to X-ray Vision. The detail and specificity of the Chouzetsugan changes with levels and personal abilities, but there are usually fairly common thresholds. At Genin level, the abilities of the Chouzetsugan are fairly simplistic. The Onoda user will be able to see the skeletal system of other creatures and well as the ability to see through most objects. At Chuunin level the Chouzetsugan will increase very much in power. The Onoda user will be able to see and attack the skeletal system, muscular system, digestive system, respiratory system, and cardiovascular system. Also, at Chuunin level, they will gain the ability to see through all solid objects. At Jounin level the Onoda user will be able to see and/or attack the skeletal system, muscular system, digestive system, respiratory system, cardiovascular system, nervous system, and immune system. Also, the range of the Chouzetsugan will increase greatly.

The second application of the Chouzetsugan is literally photographic memory. The Onoda user will be able to, literally, take pictures with their doujutsu and extract the memory later. However, the Onoda user will not be able to hold and infinite number of memories and pictures. At Genin level the Onoda user will be able to hold five to ten pictures or memories. The memories will be somewhat grainy and lose their detail with time if extraction is not completed in a fairly short amount of time. At Chuunin level the Onoda user will be able to hold twenty to twenty-five memories or pictures. The memories will lose most of their detail with time, but are much more resilient than at Genin level. At Jounin level the Onoda user will be able to hold a maximum of fifty pictures or memories. They will exist indefinitely and will not lose details with time. At any time the Onoda user will be able to delete memories and/or photographs and then replace them with others. Deletion is instantaneous and, once complete, the Onoda user will simply have a regular memory of the event.

The extraction technique is, actually, not very complex, but complications have been known to arise. The Onoda user will transfer the specific memory and/or picture they would like to save or see via chakra onto a special piece of paper. The paper is, usually, created in Konohagakure, because of the availability of trees, and then sent to the other villages. Once the memory or pictures is transferred to the paper it will take about two hours for processing and then development. The end result is either a single picture or a series of pictures that can be used for practically anything.

The third application of the Chouzetsugan is usually used in conjunction with the second application, although it is more battle related. The first step of this move is to take a 'mental picture' of an opponent using the second application of the Chouzetsugan. The Onoda user will then have to manipulate the picture or a series of pictures to form a move or a set of moves. Once the move in the Onoda Clan member's mind is completed, they will need to implant it into their opponents chakra system via most Kekkei Genkai jutsu.

At Genin level the Onoda user will be able to implant moves or ideas that extend over a period of ten seconds. The Onoda user will be able to affect mobility and the rate of chakra release. For example, they can create and implant a series of pictures into an opponent in which they will have to stand completely still for ten seconds, leaving them completely open for attack. Also, they can affect the rate at which and opponent releases chakra. For example, they will have the ability to create and implant a series of pictures in which an opponent will continually release a large amount of chakra for ten seconds. This greatly tires out opponents at all stages of battle. Additionally, at Genin level, in order for the memory to be transmitted the Onoda user needs to make three successful hits on an opponent. The hits can be over any series of posts, as long as it's three. After three hits they will only be able to transfer one memory at which point, to transfer another memory, they will have to hit their opponent another three times. At Chuunin level the Onoda user will be able to implant moves or ideas that extend over a period of thirty seconds. The Onoda user will be able to affect mobility, the rate of chakra release, and their susceptibility to Genjutsu. At Chuunin level two successful hits need to be made for transmittance. At Jounin level the Onoda user will be able to implant moves or ideas that extend over a period of two minutes. The Onoda user will be able to affect most aspects of their victims actions and most aspects of their susceptibility to attacks. At Jounin level only one successful hit needs to be made for transmittance.




Hanbusshitsu Chouzetsugan :: Antimatter Transcending Eye



The Hanbusshitsu Chouzetsugan is the powerful doujutsu that, to some, defines the Onoda clan and grants it its power. Already dangerous in its initial form, many Onoda quested through scientific research and diligent training to find an advanced form of their eye, much like their oft-compared rivals the Uchiha. This state escaped them for generations. However, while meditating on the abilities of his Kekkei Genkai, Tetsugaku Onoda devised a theory for improving his phasing abilities. For months, Tetsu phased himself through a multitude of objects, learning how to match his body's physical state with the target object's phase boundary. While performing this training, Tetsu kept his Chouzetsugan active, attempting to use its analyzing properties to help him determine these boundaries.

To his surprise, it worked.

Tetsu, already a pioneer in Chouzetsugan research with over twenty-five years of experience, had found the elusive second state of the Chouzetsugan. In this awakened state, the world transformed into a color-coded world of phase boundaries; each portion of matter with similar phase boundaries were given a color by his mind, including the the Souton chakra that surrounded Tetsu's body when he phased through objects. By aligning the "color" (phase boundary) of his chakra, he found he could pass through objects with extreme ease and with higher precision, unlike the usual method of simply making his body extremely low density. This aided him in conserving chakra when phasing. As for a battle advantage, this new "state" of the Chouzetsugan did very little. However, by combining his thoughts with his most recent pupil Onoda Hiro, they were able to lead themselves to a new discovery.

The girl had been undergoing some new training, working on perfecting her first Incomplete S-Ranked technique. The principle of the technique is very simple, but extremely powerful. Souton - Phasing is defined by an element that, "allows for the free passing of person or objects through other matter, by controlling the molecules of substances... through using both Fuuton - Wind and then Doton - Earth chakra together one can control all the particles of matter that make up their surroundings." By extending this definition to the highest degree, Tetsu and Hiro were able to open the way into a second form of the Chouzetsugan. Aligning one's phase boundary (color) with the phase boundary of another object allows for free passage through that object. However, by aligning one's phase boundary with the anticolor of an object, it is possible to forcibly break those object's molecules apart.

Phase boundaries (colors) are organized much like the color wheel. There are two main types of phase boundaries to consider with the Hanbusshitsu Chouzetsugan. Anticolor phase boundaries (complementary colors) and pseudocolor phase boundaries (analogous colors). Anticolor phase boundaries allow for the disintegration of molecules while pseudocolor phase boundaries allow for some interesting variations of the the integration molecules. In order to use this technique one must have a base knowledge of color theory, they must be Chuunin, and they must be taught by Onoda Hiro.

As the name suggested, there were six bodies, or "paths", which comprised the jutsu. The only common feature shared by these bodies was their bright orange hair and Rinnegan. Each path had a number of body and facial piercings of various shapes, sizes, and patterns. Also, each body seemed to serve a specific purpose in battle, such as summoning, repair, and defense, rendering them open in other areas. This did not hold true for the Deva Path, however, which was imbued with several capabilities. Each path, with the possible exception of the second Animal Path, was in some way affiliated with Jiraiya when they were alive.

When the paths were active together in battle, Nagato was able to see through their eyes, thus registering six separate fields of vision at the same time. Essentially working as shared vision for the paths, this allowed Nagato to coordinate their attacks and to provide defense for them without a blind spot. All of the paths demonstrated incredible speed, strength and the ability to create Chakra Disruption Blades which were used to incapacitate opponents. The paths were strongest when together, using combination tactics and the element of surprise to defeat their enemies; both Jiraiya and Kakashi fell victim to this technique. In the anime, it was shown that the paths do not feel pain and have cold skin. When the paths were lined up in formation the Deva Path was always in the center, while the Naraka Path stayed in the back. This was to protect it, so it could revive the others who had fallen. However, his technique, although powerful, had a flaw: each of the paths had a primary function or ability. With prior knowledge about the technique and each paths' abilities, one stood a better chance of defeating them, as witnessed in Pain's battle against Naruto.

When not in use, the bodies were stored in a hidden chamber within Amegakure's tallest tower. Within the room are six "pods" on which the bodies rest; each pod is connected to the wall via pipes or wires, and has a sliding cover that appears to feature the symbol of Amegakure, which conceals the faces of the inactive body. The Hyuuga clan were one of the founding noble families of Leaf village. The clan itself is said to be the ancestors of the Uchiha clan who possess the bloodline of the Sharingan eye. Each clan member possess the "Byakugan" or "White Eye." When the "Byakugan" is activated, the clan member gains an extra-sensory perception, which gives them penetrating sight and telescopic vision. This allows them to see the internal chakra circulation system in other beings. This vision also grants the member a near 360° view of their surroundings. The higher the skill of the clan member, the further the distance from which they can sense incoming attacks. Unfortunately the vision does have a weakness, a small blindspot that extends outwards from their upper back.

The clan uses this ability in conjunction with their own chakra creating the Juuken (gentle fist) fighting style. By focusing the chakra to their finger tips, they can press the tenketsu or chakra pressure points of their opponents body. When the finger nears the tenketsu the chakra is forced out, collasping the targetted tenketsu for a period of time. The tenketsu serve as the connectors and exit points for the chakra pathways. So when they are stopped by the Hyuuga clan member, the ninja greatly loses his or her ability to utilize their chakra for jutsu.

These great powers lead to internal strife within the family. Because the eye grants such a unique and powerful ability, the clan became possessive and over-protective of it. Seeing only the main family as worthy users and inheritors of the eye, the heads of the clan began to place restrictions on those branch family members not in power. What resulted were two Hyuuga lines, the powerful main family who would represent the line, and the branch family who were directed to protect the main family and bear the cursed seal.

The cursed seal is placed on the foreheads of branch family members. It serves as a means to protect the secrets of the Hyuuga Byakugan eye. If the branch family member was to ever betray the main family or be killed in battle, the seal would be activated to destroy the body's secrets. Thus forcing the branch family to further bow to the will of the main family

The Advanced Byakugan

Explanation : The Byakugan originally only had one form, but after a series of training, the 2nd form was unlock by the hyuga clan . The 2nd form has characteristics that are not unlike the Sharingan, except that a black bead appears in the middle of the pupils with the 2nd stage Byakugan. The one who can master this form has mastery of the universe. The 2nd Stage grants the user to see Past, Present and Future. Also, the blindspot from the 1st Stage is gone. In addition, once learned, the 2nd Stage is the one you automatically have whenever you activate it, because when you master it, the 1st stage stays on indefinitely, not taking up any chakra whatsoever. Also, when activated, 2nd Stage gives the user increased speed, more power, and more chakra. The speed increase is phenomenal. If wanted, you could move from here to Pluto and back in 5 seconds. That’s right. Faster than the speed of light. The power increase is also incredible. A simple touch of your finger would destroy the very molecules of anything you touched. The extra chakra is needed to be able to use 2nd Stage. But, as all good abilities do, it has some side effects. The user cannot speak in that form, because the chakra obstructs the voicebox. Also the user is heavily burdened each time an ability is used in that form. And I mean heavily burdened. The user speed Increase is so great that not even time could stop the user ,this speed is so great is superior to that of the flash , the user chakra becomes the same as a tailed-beast , and because the byakugan gives the user great chakra control , the byakugan user uses chakra as their element .The user chakra is so incredible that it's possible to blow up a Village with a Chakra Blast. Chouzetsugan :: The Transcending Eye



Chouzetsugan is a powerful doujutsu technique with multiple applications. Firstly, it gives the Onoda user something akin to X-ray Vision. The detail and specificity of the Chouzetsugan changes with levels and personal abilities, but there are usually fairly common thresholds. At Genin level, the abilities of the Chouzetsugan are fairly simplistic. The Onoda user will be able to see the skeletal system of other creatures and well as the ability to see through most objects. At Chuunin level the Chouzetsugan will increase very much in power. The Onoda user will be able to see and attack the skeletal system, muscular system, digestive system, respiratory system, and cardiovascular system. Also, at Chuunin level, they will gain the ability to see through all solid objects. At Jounin level the Onoda user will be able to see and/or attack the skeletal system, muscular system, digestive system, respiratory system, cardiovascular system, nervous system, and immune system. Also, the range of the Chouzetsugan will increase greatly.

The second application of the Chouzetsugan is literally photographic memory. The Onoda user will be able to, literally, take pictures with their doujutsu and extract the memory later. However, the Onoda user will not be able to hold and infinite number of memories and pictures. At Genin level the Onoda user will be able to hold five to ten pictures or memories. The memories will be somewhat grainy and lose their detail with time if extraction is not completed in a fairly short amount of time. At Chuunin level the Onoda user will be able to hold twenty to twenty-five memories or pictures. The memories will lose most of their detail with time, but are much more resilient than at Genin level. At Jounin level the Onoda user will be able to hold a maximum of fifty pictures or memories. They will exist indefinitely and will not lose details with time. At any time the Onoda user will be able to delete memories and/or photographs and then replace them with others. Deletion is instantaneous and, once complete, the Onoda user will simply have a regular memory of the event.

The extraction technique is, actually, not very complex, but complications have been known to arise. The Onoda user will transfer the specific memory and/or picture they would like to save or see via chakra onto a special piece of paper. The paper is, usually, created in Konohagakure, because of the availability of trees, and then sent to the other villages. Once the memory or pictures is transferred to the paper it will take about two hours for processing and then development. The end result is either a single picture or a series of pictures that can be used for practically anything.

The third application of the Chouzetsugan is usually used in conjunction with the second application, although it is more battle related. The first step of this move is to take a 'mental picture' of an opponent using the second application of the Chouzetsugan. The Onoda user will then have to manipulate the picture or a series of pictures to form a move or a set of moves. Once the move in the Onoda Clan member's mind is completed, they will need to implant it into their opponents chakra system via most Kekkei Genkai jutsu.

At Genin level the Onoda user will be able to implant moves or ideas that extend over a period of ten seconds. The Onoda user will be able to affect mobility and the rate of chakra release. For example, they can create and implant a series of pictures into an opponent in which they will have to stand completely still for ten seconds, leaving them completely open for attack. Also, they can affect the rate at which and opponent releases chakra. For example, they will have the ability to create and implant a series of pictures in which an opponent will continually release a large amount of chakra for ten seconds. This greatly tires out opponents at all stages of battle. Additionally, at Genin level, in order for the memory to be transmitted the Onoda user needs to make three successful hits on an opponent. The hits can be over any series of posts, as long as it's three. After three hits they will only be able to transfer one memory at which point, to transfer another memory, they will have to hit their opponent another three times. At Chuunin level the Onoda user will be able to implant moves or ideas that extend over a period of thirty seconds. The Onoda user will be able to affect mobility, the rate of chakra release, and their susceptibility to Genjutsu. At Chuunin level two successful hits need to be made for transmittance. At Jounin level the Onoda user will be able to implant moves or ideas that extend over a period of two minutes. The Onoda user will be able to affect most aspects of their victims actions and most aspects of their susceptibility to attacks. At Jounin level only one successful hit needs to be made for transmittance.




Hanbusshitsu Chouzetsugan :: Antimatter Transcending Eye



The Hanbusshitsu Chouzetsugan is the powerful doujutsu that, to some, defines the Onoda clan and grants it its power. Already dangerous in its initial form, many Onoda quested through scientific research and diligent training to find an advanced form of their eye, much like their oft-compared rivals the Uchiha. This state escaped them for generations. However, while meditating on the abilities of his Kekkei Genkai, Tetsugaku Onoda devised a theory for improving his phasing abilities. For months, Tetsu phased himself through a multitude of objects, learning how to match his body's physical state with the target object's phase boundary. While performing this training, Tetsu kept his Chouzetsugan active, attempting to use its analyzing properties to help him determine these boundaries.

To his surprise, it worked.

Tetsu, already a pioneer in Chouzetsugan research with over twenty-five years of experience, had found the elusive second state of the Chouzetsugan. In this awakened state, the world transformed into a color-coded world of phase boundaries; each portion of matter with similar phase boundaries were given a color by his mind, including the the Souton chakra that surrounded Tetsu's body when he phased through objects. By aligning the "color" (phase boundary) of his chakra, he found he could pass through objects with extreme ease and with higher precision, unlike the usual method of simply making his body extremely low density. This aided him in conserving chakra when phasing. As for a battle advantage, this new "state" of the Chouzetsugan did very little. However, by combining his thoughts with his most recent pupil Onoda Hiro, they were able to lead themselves to a new discovery.

The girl had been undergoing some new training, working on perfecting her first Incomplete S-Ranked technique. The principle of the technique is very simple, but extremely powerful. Souton - Phasing is defined by an element that, "allows for the free passing of person or objects through other matter, by controlling the molecules of substances... through using both Fuuton - Wind and then Doton - Earth chakra together one can control all the particles of matter that make up their surroundings." By extending this definition to the highest degree, Tetsu and Hiro were able to open the way into a second form of the Chouzetsugan. Aligning one's phase boundary (color) with the phase boundary of another object allows for free passage through that object. However, by aligning one's phase boundary with the anticolor of an object, it is possible to forcibly break those object's molecules apart.

Phase boundaries (colors) are organized much like the color wheel. There are two main types of phase boundaries to consider with the Hanbusshitsu Chouzetsugan. Anticolor phase boundaries (complementary colors) and pseudocolor phase boundaries (analogous colors). Anticolor phase boundaries allow for the disintegration of molecules while pseudocolor phase boundaries allow for some interesting variations of the the integration molecules. In order to use this technique one must have a base knowledge of color theory, they must be Chuunin, and they must be taught by Onoda Hiro.

Deva Path

The Deva Path was regarded as Pain's most powerful and cherished of the six Paths. Its main abilities revolved around gravity manipulation, allowing it to repel or attract objects or people. However, it could not perform these techniques in rapid succession, leaving it vulnerable for a short period of time after each use. This period of time between usages varied from five seconds to several minutes, depending upon the force of the repulsion or attraction that the Deva Path had used.[2][3][4] When performing a large-scale attack, Nagato had to first sever his connections with the other paths and then employ his chakra only to the Deva Path for the attack. However this is considerably risky as the other Pains were healing considerably sluggishly when the Naraka Path administered his jutsu. The Deva Path's Chibaku Tensei allowed it to release a black orb of energy that could attract all surrounding matter to form a huge makeshift terrestrial body. The Deva Path's most infamous and one of his greatest feats was singlehandly wiping out Konohagakure with one powerful Shinra Tensei.

In addition to gravity manipulation, Nagato was able to use a number of other miscellaneous jutsu through the Deva Path, something none of the other bodies had been shown doing. He was able to use the Shapeshifting Technique through the Deva path to make body doubles of others with human sacrifices. Other techniques used included astral projection, barriers to protect hideouts, and control rain, a possible throwback to Yahiko (who wanted to be able to stop the rain in Amegakure), which even allowed him to sense the chakra of everyone in Amegakure, making stealthy entrances by enemies impossible. In addition, like most of the other paths, it possessed considerable strength and speed, as seen with its fight with Jiraiya and Kakashi.

As Pain's main body, the Deva Path was the primary body used for performing the Sealing Technique: Illusionary Dragon Nine Consuming Seals, which Akatsuki used to seal the tailed beasts. The members would convene to forcibly extract the beast from its host's body over a three day period, depending on the number of people assisting with the sealing, and would then store it in a giant statue. He was not the only one who could use this technique, however. Madara Uchiha and the remaining Akatsuki members have been shown to initiate the extraction without using the Deva Path while it was occupied with invading Konoha.


Animal Path


The Animal Path's main abilities revolved around summoning various animals and creatures to aid it in battle. Each creature served a different purpose in battle, much like every path of Pain was also different from the others. Each animal summon also shared Nagato's Rinnegan and had various body piercings as well, suggesting that they too were under his control.

Tactics wise, the path's primary role in battle appeared to be overwhelming multiple opponents with its summons. In addition to that, both bodies used for this path were of a smaller stature than the other five, which, coupled with Pain's tendency to use his Asura Path to throw the second Animal Path in order to reach far off locations and infiltrate Konoha, as well as Pain's decision to first confront Jiraiya with the first Animal Path body, suggests that it acted as both a scout, as well as a way for Pain to move around the battlefield quickly through summons. Worthy of note, Animal Path requires no blood sacrifice or hand contact with the surface to performing a Summoning Technique.

Preta Path

This path's "Energy Absorption" ability was primarily defensive, since it was capable of absorbing any ninjutsu-related technique, thereby nullifying its effect. This technique could also take the form of a barrier around its body, allowing it to absorb attacks from all directions. In addition to its defensive properties, this body's ability had also shown offensive capabilities, as it could absorb all the chakra out of any person that it touched or grabbed.


Human Path

During Pain's battle with Jiraiya, the Human Path's eyes were damaged and it was left unable to see. For this reason, it used only taijutsu during the battle. The Human Path was later shown to have the capability of mind reading simply by placing its hand over the target's head, and could extort any information or secret being hidden by the victim against his/her will. The most powerful and lethal ability possessed by the Human Path was its power to remove its target's soul by ripping it out of his/her body, thus killing the victim.

Despite its lethal ability, Nagato deemed the Human Path less important than Animal Path, as he sacrificed it to get the Animal Path out of Naruto's Wind Release: Rasenshuriken's radius, having the path ripped to bits.


Asura Path

This body was very different from all other paths, being more like an android, as it had a number of body alterations. It was shown to have robotic inner workings, possessing six arms and a folded, serrated blade-like tail. It could fire one of its left forearms off as a long-range projectile, and could pull out his arms to reveal and fire a cluster of segmented missiles at its targets. It could quickly propel itself forward with a burst of chakra from its boots, and could protract multiple blades and a drill from one of its arms in battle. Also, it could open up the crown of its head to release a titanic shockwave that was capable of destroying numerous buildings at once. Its physical raw power was enough to rip Jiraiya's arm off, and then crush his throat with basic Taijutsu moves, as well as to throw Animal Path all the way into Konohagakure from the forests in its outskirts. All of these abilities befitted the "warring demon" name that the Asura Path held, whilst giving it a considerably higher degree of versatility than the other paths had (aside from the Deva Path).

Despite being used frequently and providing heavy firepower, the Asura Path was readily sacrificed to protect the even more powerful Deva Path, acting as a human shield against Kakashi's Lightning Cutter.


Naraka Path

Although it was physically strong enough to lift a man with one hand, the only ability exhibited by the Naraka Path lay in the use of summoning the Outer Path. The Outer Path is a large head which sprouts out of the ground surrounded by purple flames and possesses the Rinnegan.[1] The Outer Path could fulfill two purposes: interrogation and restoration.

To interrogate, the Naraka Path need only catch hold of a person, causing the Outer Path to appear before them. With the victim seemingly paralyzed, the Naraka Path begins questioning them. After answers are given, the King of Hell will unzip its mouth to release tendril-like arms and would draw out the victim's tongue. The Outer Path then proceeds to pass its judgment. If the person was lying or refused to answer the questions, the Outer Path would remove their tongue and consume it, apparently killing them. However, if they told the truth, they would be spared, although left extremely exhausted.

The second ability the Naraka Path possessed is the ability to repair any damage. To do so the Naraka Path has the Outer Path ingest the damaged body with its tendril-like arms into its mouth. Then, after some time, the destroyed body will emerge from its mouth, completely healed and rejuvenated.

In all situations where Pain's bodies were shown in a combat formation, the Naraka Path always took a rear position with the others protecting it, behind even the Deva Path. This indicates that the Naraka Path's healing ability made it one of Pain's most important bodies.


[size=24]Outer Path[/size

The Outer Path (外道, Gedō) is the seventh path of Pain, not included with the main Six Paths of Pain. It has control over Life and Death. When used by the Naraka Path, it's used for interrogation and rejuvenation.

It is used by the Naraka Path for interrogation and is capable of discerning whether an individual is lying or not. When implemented on a target, a serpent-like apparition of their life force energy emerges from their mouth and presented to the figure. The Outer Path then proceeds to pass its judgment on the victim. If they are lying (or refuse to answer the question), their life force energy in the form of an enlarged tongue is consumed and they die. If the target is telling the truth, it lets go of the protrusion leaving the target alive but extremely exhausted. When the Naraka Path uses this technique, the figure possesses the Rinnegan similar to how the Animal Path's summons all possess the Rinnegan. The Outer Path can only be seen by the ones it's being used upon.

For its second ability, the Outer Path can repair the other paths of Pain should they be damaged or killed. When it consumed the remains of the Asura Path, the path emerged from the figure fully restored and was even wearing a new Akatsuki robe (the body had discarded its previous robe). While the Outer Path is being used for this, it seems that others are able to see it, unlike when it is being used for interrogation purpose. However, the only person to actually look at it while it was being used for this purpose was Naruto while in Sage Mode, so it is possible that normal people cannot, even for revival.

Lastly, the Outer Path can be summoned for the Outer Path: Samsara of Heavenly Life Technique, where Nagato can release life force energy to people who were recently killed and allow their souls to return to their rejuvenated bodies. This jutsu can only be used by Nagato, the main entity in control of the Six paths. This power is said to transcend even the very concepts of life and death.
